Anti-Semite, Catholic basher, pervert. The trifecta of Moonbattery. This time it’s “The Lion of the Left” Bernie Ward who was caught trading child pornography over the Internet. His excuse: He was trying to expose hypocrisy man!

SAN FRANCISCO — San Francisco radio talk show host Bernie Ward has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of using the Internet to send and receive child pornography, his lawyer said.

The indictment is under seal, but the charges were confirmed by Ward’s lawyer, Doron Weinberg, and by his employer, KGO radio.

Weinberg said Ward, 56, pleaded not guilty to the indictment before a federal magistrate in San Francisco Thursday.

He said Ward is due to reappear in court in late January before U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker for a status conference and scheduling of a trial date.

Weinberg said the case stems from an “error of judgment” Ward made when he spent a few days in 2004 looking at pornography images and exchanging images with other adults when doing research for a book on hypocrisy.

The attorney said, “It’s really tragic that the government has decided to prosecute him for a judgment he made as a journalist and to treat him as a child pornographer when he is not.”

KGO Operations Director Jack Swanson said the station is for the time replacing Ward with a substitute on his two shows – a nighttime 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. show Monday through Friday and a Sunday morning show called Godtalk.

Swanson said, “Bernie Ward has been a valued, longtime employee of KGO Radio. We were just recently made aware of these serious charges and are surprised and concerned by their nature.”

The “pornography” mentioned above is child pornography which aside from being disgusting is illegal. He traded child porn with other perverts on-line then claimed he’s researching a book on hypocrisy.

The hypocrisy of not allowing adults to rape children on film I guess.

It isn’t surprising to me. Sometimes at a cocktail party I’ll meet a fellow “conservative” and discover, while chatting about this or that, that this person’s no conservative at all but just a prude or god-botherer who claims to be a conservative when he or she is really practicing some sort of Christianized Communism where the state dictates morality to you and I. They are easily scandalized and represent a fringe of the right that exists mainly to make us look bad.

You know, like Pat Buchanan.

The left has their “fringe” too, people who aren’t so much embracing liberalism as rejecting the cultural morality that keeps them from being able to pursue their deviant interests. Like trading child porn on-line or orchestrating a second Holocaust.

The difference is that the fringe of the left is in the driver’s seat. Ward was a hero to the left quoted over and over who helped to formulate leftist opinions on everything from the war in Iraq to relations between the faiths. It was Ward who attacked Act-Up for protesting Islamic homophobia, but considered it allowable to protest Catholics. This double standard is now leftist orthodoxy and it was created by a child porn collecting pervert.

Ward was a champion of influential organizations like Common Dreams and The Center for American Progress. He was associated with Democracy Now! and a host of other organizations he helped to move further and further left. And he was a child porn collecting pervert.

DailyKos among other left leaning blogs are lousy with adoration for Bernie Ward and his courageous, progressive stance. He was a child porn collecting pervert.

Pat Buchanan is shunned by Republicans and gets most of his air time from Chris Matthews. That’s because on the right we don’t let the fringe run the show. On the left things are different.

So while the left continues to attack Larry Craig, because it’s shocking and important to know that gay men jerk off in bathrooms (something everyone who has used one knows all too well) they’ll ignore the sad saga of Bernie Ward.

That gay men congregate in bathrooms for sex is something most of us rightly learn to deal with, by ignoring them and sticking to bathroom protocol (eyes down, no talking) but I guess the left will try to make us get used to the idea that “journalists” should be able o trade child porn on the Internet.

As long as it exposes hypocrisy.
