23-Year-Old MRE Remains Edible

Good to know, though the positive reviews of some of the subjects who tried out this Carrie Prejean aged MRE are less than convincing. Of course this isn’t really news to the survivalist community. After all, 100-year-old canned food was found safe to eat in studies so two decades should be a drop in the hat for military grade rations.

Video is from an outfit called Emergency Essentials who I’ve never done business with so I can’t vouch for them either way. I can say that they’re hiring, but whether that has anything to do with the test…

“Best by” dates are just that. When SHTF you can’t afford to throw out some corn just because it’s a month old and MREs will be worth their weight in gold. MRE’s aren’t cheap, but they are light, portable and as the video above shows long lasting so they’re worth the investment.
