SouthCom will be delivering about $40, 000 worth of disaster relief supplies to flood ravaged areas of Bolivia, which the socialist government of that country apparently can’t help. A great humanitarian effort, even though it goes to a communist country with a history of wide spread human trafficking of children and illegal Asian immigrants. From the C.I.A. World Fact book:
current situation: Bolivia is a source and transit country for men, women, and children trafficked for the purposes of labor and sexual exploitation to Argentina, Brazil, and Chile, as well as to Spain; children are trafficked internally for sexual exploitation, forced mining, and agricultural labor; illegal migrants from Asia transiting Bolivia are vulnerable as trafficking victims
tier rating: Tier 2 Watch List – Bolivia has failed to show evidence of increasing efforts to combat trafficking in the areas of prosecutions and victim protection
Evo Morales socialist government has done little to stop these abuses and like Cuba, and other repressive regimes, may even encourage them, so I’m not sure how I feel about my tax dollars going there.
