Just kidding. Maybe. No offense to my Juggalo readers but when a man does something crazy with a hatchet it’s natural to wonder. Was this poorly planned jail break with a hatchet just a the result of a lone weirdo having too much time on his hands, or “clown love” gone wrong?
MENA, Ark. — Sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man who walked into a county jail wielding a hatchet and knives early Monday and demanded the inmates be released, authorities said.
Christopher Allen Anderson, 23, of Mena entered the Polk County jail shortly after midnight and demanded a female jailer leave her post, Polk County Sheriff Mike Oglesby said. Nearby deputies rushed in and urged Anderson to drop his weapons, Oglesby said. Anderson then asked the female jailer to release the inmates.
“He didn’t ask for any specific person,” Oglesby told The Associated Press. “He just told my female jailer that she needed to leave and they needed to let the people out of jail.”
Anderson refused to drop his weapons, so deputies called for a Mena police officer, who used a Taser on Anderson twice without a visible response, the sheriff said.
“He come back up again like it never phased him,” Oglesby said. “He was raring back to throw (the hatchet) at the officers and that’s when the guys shot him.”
Oglesby said he didn’t know how many times deputies shot Anderson. His body was taken to the state Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for an autopsy.
Shockingly his family claims he had a mental illness.
When I saw this story the first thing I thought of too was I wondered if he was a juggalo.
Lotsa strange things have been reputed to happen in Mena. Maybe he found something left over from Bill Clinton’s guvnor days and Anderson did inhale. LOL
I met a Juggalo today at the eye doctor’s for my daughter’s appointment. Um .. it was interesting.
He and his girlfriend were very nice and my daughter liked talking to him – when his nose wasn’t buried in his Nintendo DS playing the tween version of a Pokemon game. I think he was about 20. His mom buys his clothes (don’t ask, the conversation was all over the place). He and his girlfriend were so high, I kept looking at her eyes and wondering if they would actually be able to use the drops.
At any rate, they were nice. VERY outgoing – to the point I can see how someone would feel nervous around them. I didn’t know he was a Juggalo until I saw the tat across his knuckles (J U G G on one hand, A L O on the other .. Yes, he had all 10 fingers.) The little clown symbol was tatt’ed on his hand, as well.
When I mentioned it, he turned a few shades of purple and said he was really drunk when he had it done. He actually looked like he was nervous I would turn on him. I felt kinda bad for that. We’d been talking for at least half an hour about stuff we had common interests in – computer graphics, Batman, art – and to have him recoil like he was about to be torn to shreds for being a Juggalo made me put a lot of things into perspective.
Would I let he or his g.f. babysit my child? Well, hel no, but that comes from the obvious drug abuse that was noted before I realized they were Juggalo’s. Would I talk to them the same if they lived on my street? Yes, I would. I’d even invite them to grill some steaks in my backyard. It’s all in how someone treats others, and drug use aside, they were a very sweet couple. Clean on the outside though their system was tainted.
Again, I wouldn’t leave my child with them and I wouldn’t let my guard down, but I can’t say that’s because they are Juggalos more than I can say it’s just the simple fact they are drug abusers and therefore unpredictable.
I just thought I’d share my little experience today. It was enlightening and profound in my own soul-searching efforts.
