Evidence for Jihad in Salt Lake Continues to Pile up

Sulejman Talovic’s father believes someone was “controlling” his son when he gunned down five innocent Americans in Salt Lake City. (h/t Gateway Pundit for video)

The grieving father wants the F.B.I. to look into this, which may be a good idea. This article from the Salt Lake Tribune claims that Sulejman, a high school drop-out with few friends, regularly attended Friday prayers at the Al-Noor Mosque. Suspiciously, the Imam there is claiming that he doesn’t recognize Sulejman.

It is also interesting to note that Sulejman’s aunt claims that she wasn’t aware he knew how to shoot firearms. If his family didn’t teach him how to shoot, who did?

Debbie Schlussel presents some compelling evidence that the urge for Jihad runs in the family. Talovic’s cousin (suspected to be the son of the aunt form the Tribune story) was convicted of sending a death threat to Governor John Rowland in 2002. The letter contained the “Death to America and Israel” mantra that is de riguer for Jihadist love notes. Maybe the aunt knows a little more then she’s saying?

Unlike the lone Jihadi that haunts our nightmares, Talovic apparently had no computer with which to immerse himself in radical rhetoric. This would leave few options for where he was getting his marching orders, either at home or at his mosque. He was found on a computer in his high school looking up information on Ak-47’s just prior to dropping out. It’s possible he got radicalized during his free period in the school library, but I doubt it.

His Imam’s from Somalia, home of the Islamic Court Union and training ground for Texan Jihadist Danny Maldanado by the way. Make of that what you want. But Debbie’s also reported rumors that Talovic’s uncle was arrested the day after the shootings. If I lived in Utah, I’d be getting nervous now.

Of course, New York we have our own terror related problems.

  1. Debbie Schlussel presents compelling evidence? You’re kidding, right? Schlussel does nothing but speculate and whip up a frenzy, her stock in trade.

    She presents nothing, as usual.

  2. Be that as it may, Schlussel gets plenty of scoops. Her work on the DNC Imam was (ahem) ‘referenced’ by various pundits, and turned out to be dead on. One thing Schlussel knows, is how to spot a Jihadi.

  3. He was an Islamist. They kill people that are not Islamic. Simple as that. People should read the Koran to see how evil Islam really is and stop trying to cover up for it.
The true and Living God doesn’t tell people to kill other people for no reason.

  4. The kid was on a jihad mission after attending a motivating “sermon” at a mosque, only to go to a nearby mall to carry out the “jihad.” What more do we need to know?
