The Riker’s Island inmate accused of plotting to hire a hit man to kill NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly wanted the victim beheaded and wanted One Police Plaza bombed. Beheading and bombings seem a strange request for the common criminal but are the stock and trade of Islamic radicals. As of yet, no news agency has reported that Brown is anything more then a disgruntled, violent offender but his actions are peculiar for a career criminal. It is being reported that Brown was “fed up” with the Commissioner, and his handling of the Sean Bell case.

Why would Brown, doing time for several violent offenses, care about Sean Bell? Where was Brown going to get the $65,000 he was going to pay the undercover cop posing as a hit man? Could this have been a Jihadist operation?

The recruitment of prison inmates into radical Islam is a problem that has been reported before, yet little has been done about it. Christian Fellowship programs have complained in the past of what they see as widespread radical indoctrination in the prisons, while at the same time there is little support for other religious programs to counter this dangerous phenomenon. Brown, who by all accounts spent most of his life in and out of prisons, would certainly have been exposed to Islamic recruitment.

Brown is from Brooklyn, which has a long history of Jihadism beginning in the 80’s when Mustafa Shalabi set up a recruiting ground for fighters to repel the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan. There are rumors that vestiges of his “Jihad Office” are still active, but under the radar.

Beheadings have been the calling card of Jihadist for years now and the bombing of a police station is a clear terrorist act. Like the Salt Lake Jihadist however, we may never know, or be told, the real motivations behind such a horrendous plot.

UPDATE: Suitably Flip reminds us that former Black Panther and current NYC Councilman Charles Barron called for violence against the NYPD in protest against the Sean Bell shootings. Also involved in those calls to violence: The New Black Panther Party. The NBPP is an Islamimisized neo-Communist organization dedicated to the violent overthrow of “White” society. Perhaps Browns loyalties lay more in this direction? If so, is he still considered a Muslim?
