Pretentious Tree Huggers Cause Poverty!

And now someone has proved it. Townhall.com super star Mary Katherine Ham wrote a must read piece today about the consequences for the world’s poor when well to do, spoiled, American liberals seek to alleviate their ennui by taking up the “green” cause. Her evidence comes from the remarkable documentary Mine Your Own Business, Phelim McAleer’s chronicle of the racist, hypocritical “activism” that infects the modern environmental movement, and how it destroys the hopes and dreams of the poor in other countries who’ve been relegated to visual props in the sanctimonious passion plays that “save the earth/Whales/trees” campaigns have become.

Last I checked, which was admittedly awhile ago, neither the two library systems I use (NYC and Middletown, CT) nor the Wesleyan University library which I still have access to (I’ll finish that Masters yet!) had ordered copies of this film. All three do have a copy of An Inconvenient Truth however. Make of that what you will.

The movie makers have a blog where you can catch up with the latest publicity and the full trailer is of course on YouTube, along with dozens of hours of videos bordering on child porn but that’s a post for another day.
