Which was promptly targeted for a robbery:

 NEW YORK —  Police say a Brooklyn day care center where police officers shot an armed man during a robbery attempt was being used as a drug haven.

Police said Saturday they found 10 pounds of marijuana and $100,000 in cash in the basement of the Special Moments Daycare.

New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly says the day care center’s owner has been arrested, and her husband is negotiating to surrender. The center’s telephone rang unanswered Saturday, and police didn’t know whether the two had lawyers.

Police say children were lying down for naps when two men burst in around noon Friday, while a third man stayed outside as a lookout.

Police shot one of the men in the center; he’s hospitalized in stable condition. No children were hurt.

The three suspects have been arrested.

But don’t worry, once pot is legal no one would ever grow it in their home around children, and no one would ever rob grow operations.

You know, just like any other cigarette. Pot smokers have long been convinced that pot is “natural” and tobacco is made in laboratories from concentrated death and nerve gas thus they were immune to the ill effects of inhaling smoke into their lungs, you know because pot is a magical healing plant or something.

But they were wrong as usual:

SAN FRANCISCO –  Marijuana smoke has joined tobacco smoke and hundreds of other chemicals on a list of substances California regulators say cause cancer.

The ruling Friday by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment likely will force pot shops with 10 or more employees to post warnings. Final guidelines are expected by the time warning requirements take effect in a year.

The listing only applies to marijuana smoke, not the plant itself.

Spokesman Sam Delson says the state agency found marijuana smoke contains 33 of the same harmful chemicals as tobacco smoke.

Delson says the findings came from a review of more than 30 scientific papers.

California’s Proposition 65 requires businesses to warn consumers of chemicals that cause cancer or reproductive harm.

It’s got to hurt the hippies when it’s weed friendly San Francisco harshing their mellow. C’mon San Fran, we thought you were cool.

19-year-old Isaiah Garcia was chillin’ with his homie as we used to say, smoking a little weed with 25-year-old Virgil Garcia. Reports are unclear about what their relationship is, they could be brothers, cousins or just friends who happen to share the same last name. What’s strikes me as odd is a person in their mid-20s sitting around smoking pot with a 19-year-old, but then again I’m a prude.

So were the police that kicked in their door, no doubt startling Isaiah. What probably startled Isaiah more is why police were there in the first place:

During the evening of May 29, 2009, Curry County Sheriff’s Office investigators, with assistance from the Clovis Police Department, executed a Search Warrant at 809 Laurelwood, Apartment A, concerning an investigation into sexual exploitation of children by use of the Internet.

Virgil Garcia (25 YOA) and Isaiah Garcia (19 YOA) were found inside the residence.  Both were found in the process of smoking marijuana.

Sheriff’s Office investigators conducted a preliminary on-scene forensic scan on a computer located in the residence. Thirteen images and three videos of child pornography were located.  The computer was seized for additional analysis.

Virgil Garcia was arrested and charged with 16 counts of Sexual Exploitation of Children (4th degree felonies) along with misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  He is being held on an $81,500 bond at the Curry County Detention Center.

Isaiah Garcia was arrested and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is being held on a $1,500 bond.

What? That “cool guy” you party with that’s been out of high school for almost a decade but still manages to have friends who are in high school is a pervert? Who would have thought?

Isaiah learned the hard way that people who haven’t given up getting high, with teenagers no less, by the time they’re in their mid-20s have other problems that make them the kind of people best avoided. Pathologically immature at best, and in many cases they’re simply parasitic degenerates who believe society owes them something and that they’re so special they deserve to break any law they want.

Be careful who you smoke with stoners. Many of your “friends” are just like Virgil Garcia.

You know what would be cool? Doing a bid in the joint with your dad after he helps you run a small scale grow operation. What would be cooler than seeing your dad trade oral sex for protection, get beaten by other prisoners and know that he is so low down on the prison food chain he can’t do anything to protect you?

But at least he’s “cool” right? If by cool you mean outrageously immature and so desperate for the approval of young people he’d do something he knew was both wrong and stupid:

WEST VALLEY CITY — A West Valley City man is busted after police discover he’s growing marijuana with his teenage son. Joseph Feichko, 41, told police he grew marijuana with his son so he would be considered a “cool dad.”

Now police say he’s facing several charges, including child endangerment.

West Valley City Police received an anonymous tip that Joseph Feichko was growing the marijuana inside his home, near 6300 West and 3500 South, with his 17-year-old son.

When they came to the house to investigate, Feichko admitted to the officers that he was and then he showed them where.

West Valley City police Lt. Bill Merritt said, “He invited the officers to go with him downstairs to take a look. He had it located in a laundry room, and the officer found exactly what he was looking for.”

What police found was nine marijuana plants, each already about a foot tall, and several supplies ready to eventually harvest them. Merritt said, “He was growing enough that he would be able to cultivate it, harvest it and then sell it.”

They also learned Feichko’s 17-year-old son was currently living at the home and helped set up the operation. “My understanding is that the 17-year-old was involved and helped cultivate and making sure that the lights were set up correctly and that the watering was being done, and so that is unusual,” Merritt said.

In a court document filed in 3rd District Court Thursday, it says Feichko will be charged with a third-degree felony for knowingly and intentionally producing a controlled substance.

What’s “cooler” than that? Certainly not taking an interest in your child and doing anything and everything to protect them. Certainly it isn’t considered “cool” among pot heads for a person with children to grow up and put their kids before their own selfish and childish desires.

Drug use is indicative of a person living in an extended adolescence, which is one of the drawbacks of Americans living in a time of insane plenty for the last 40+ years (that is soon coming to an end however) and more importantly in people like the “father” above it is an example of how much we devalue fatherhood and the awesome responsibility that comes with it. Fathers should be teaching their sons how to be men, how to be successful, honorable, tough and self-reliant. Instead too many fathers try to use their sons to give them a second or third childhood, teaching the sons that being a man means nothing more than acting like a teenager forever.
