China to Set New Restrictions on Web Use

President Hu’s not happy with all the porn surfing and Halo2 being indulged in by 26 million worker’s who are supposed to be toiling away in state run dangerous mining operations for the greater good. Add to that the semi-free flow of information in China which can lead citizens to get funny ideas about free speech and inquiry, which local officials have to deal with harshly, and you’ve got a situation where the dictatorship of the proletariat has to step in.

Communist party officials are meeting to discuss how to “civilize” the Internet. Which means I assume that now my other blog will also be banned from China.

Iran Brings Us Closer to World War

Just a day after Iranian President Ahmadinejad promised Syrian officials that the United States would soon be destroyed new reports are claiming that the Iranians are being helped with their nuclear program by North Korea. Seeking advice from North Korea clearly indicates that Iran is not interested in generating electricity but acquiring weapons with which to threaten the region, and U.S forces deployed in the middle East.

Iran has a troubling recent history of attacking European interest as well, and is continuing to test it’s somewhat over hyped missile program in a belligerent display that could embolden their new allies, who’s military ambitions have been sidelined by China’s lack of support for a North Korea ignited WWIII. The North Koreans may see Iran, who have a good relationship with both China and Russia, as just the type of ally they need to jump into military misadventure with both jack booted feet. They’ve ramped up the anti-Japanese/anti-American rhetoric in recent weeks, maybe they’ve got a reason to feel confident?

China Test Anti-Satellite Missile and American Resolve

The Rumsfeld model of the new military focusing on agility and dealing with asymmetrical threats with minimum casualties, is woefully inadequate for a war with a rising superpower who’s military out mans, out guns and can now out perform our troops by eliminating much of our high tech advantage. China’s seemingly successful test of an Anti-Satellite Missile system means the Communist Government has an effective tool to circumvent our own Missle defense systems which rely in part on Satellites to track incoming I.C.B.M.s.

This could have dire implications for the U.S. Military, which has it’s hands full with Jihadist, Iranian proxy warfare and a growing threat in Latin America. China’s presumed reunification through force with Taiwan has thus far not materialized due in large part to America’s missile defense system making the threat of all out war from China less then credible. If the Chinese military thinkers believe that they can credibly threaten the Western Seaboard with nuclear annihilation, they may begin an aggressive military campaign in the Asian world that would inevitably draw the U.S. in when our allies, Japan and Taiwan, are threatened.
