Farmageddon – The Truth About the Food and Dairy Industry

As I have finally accepted the Crunchy Con label though I hate the images that term brings up I find myself more and more interested in the sovietization of our food industry by the corporatism alliance of large agricultural and livestock concerns and clueless bureaucrats. Ironically it was that very issue, and my interest in individual self-reliance, that pushed me into the non-Red version of being “green” but that’s an essay for another day.

Farmageddon, though clearly made by and aimed by people who consider themselves liberals, illustrates nicely the problem with our political food production system. Conservative will note that many of the most onerous and heavy handed attacks on small farms and consumer rights come from solidly blue states but the movie really doesn’t get into that which will no doubt irk many. However every American should watch this movie to understand why taking the “green” movement away from urban liberals who are complicit in the sovietization of farming and ranching needs to be a priority for all Americans.

Liberal Childishness Link Round-Up

Sometimes I just don’t know what to say about the behavior of the “sophisticated, intellectual elite” that make up the American left. That much of liberalism has become a holding tank for the patholgically immature since the New Left of the 60s has never been more obvious than it was in the last couple of weeks.

The story of Adam Smith is the most obvious starting point. He is both a CFO for a national company and an adjunct professor. This is what he thinks is adult behavior:

Nice right? But he’s no worse than a bunch of other liberals who were in the news:

In Colorado a couple have been trying to get squatters out of a house they own for months, and now the squatters have filed for bankruptcy stopping legal eviction. The squatters have been helped by lefty websites set up to help people steal foreclosed homes.

MoveOn.org has an ad out attacking Ann Romney … and her horse.

Think Progress ran a story claiming global warming was melting streetlights in Oklahoma. They used a picture of melted streetlights that were damaged by a large fire nearby.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee twice issued statements claiming a billionaire named Sheldon Adelson donated money to Republicans he earned from running a Chinese prostitution ring. Surprise! They admitted it was a lie.

In England a 24-year-old pot smoker got high while her kids sat in an overflowing bath. When one dies she tried framing the other for murder. Those sophisticated Brits the left loves so much gave her a tough 36-month sentence.

The Boston Globe ran a tough hard hitting piece of investigative journalism dealing with Mitt Romney’s high school report card.

A bunch of old hippies shut down a nuke plant by breaking in and using HUMAN BLOOD to write graffiti inside. I guess they miss the good old days with the Manson Family.

Rosanne Barr claimed that members of the military and their families were “on the dole” just like people on welfare.

Mike Rios, a member of the school board in Moreno Valley, California is out on bail awaiting trial for murder. He’s also been charged with pimping, rape and fraud. He’s just filed papers to run for the city council were he hopes to “fight corruption”

Huffington Post claims trying to stop Chik-fil-a COO Dan Cathy from expressing his opinion isn’t a First Amendment issue.

I posted these because liberal told me recently that they were tired of being the adults in America.

Islam and Sexual Slavery

I recently read Robert Spencer’s new book Did Muhammad Exist? which I highly recommend. Spencer recently penned an excellent piece which was posted on Atlas Shrugs which discusses the connection between mainstream Islamic theology and human trafficking and sexual slavery. I post it because we are seeing more and more Muslim “gangs” involved in human trafficking in America and this piece helps to explain how unassimilated Islamic communities become havens for pimps:

Bikya Masr reported last week that “a new report from George Washington University professor Michele Clark and Coptic rights activist Nada Ghaly has argued that thousands of young Coptic Christian girls in Egypt are the victim of kidnapping and forced servitude by Muslims in the North African country.” Meanwhile, every day seems to bring fresh reports of Muslim gangs in Britain forcing young non-Muslim girls into prostitution and sex slavery. Muslims from the Twin Cities area ran an interstate sex trafficking ring until they were caught and indicted in late 2010. The dirty secret behind such reports is that this behavior is sanctioned in Islam.

The Qur’an forbids Muslim men to have sexual relations with “wedded women, save what your right hands own.” (4:4) “Prosperous are the believers who in their prayers are humble and from idle talk turn away and at almsgiving are active and guard their private parts save from their wives and what their right hands own then being not blameworthy.” (23:1-6)

Those whom their “right hands own” are slaves, and inextricable from the concept of Islamic slavery as a whole is the concept of sex slavery, which is rooted in Islam’s devaluation of the lives of non-Muslims. The Qur’an stipulates that a man many take four wives as well as hold slave girls as sex slaves. These women are captured in wartime and are considered the spoils of war. Islam avoids the appearance of impropriety, declaring that the taking of these sex slaves does not constitute adultery if the women are already married, for their marriages are ended at the moment of their capture. A manual of Islamic law directs: “When a child or a woman is taken captive, they become slaves by the fact of capture, and the woman’s previous marriage is immediately annulled” (Reliance of the Traveller, o9.13).

In communities that accept “radical” groups we see an increase in trafficking because the average, otherwise non-criminal Muslim is taught that this is religiously valid evangelism and reward for following the example of the Warlord who founded their religion. This is why  the West has a vested interest in creating a Western version of Islam that will replace current Islam at least in our country.

Prescription Drugs Kill 6200% More People than Homicidal Shootings Every Year

Yet the urban liberal elite aren’t clamoring to cut off supplies of Xanax, Oxycontin and other dangerous, addictive drugs. Of course the meaningless urbanized existence relies on chronic drug use to keep people from figuring out that living in unsustainable cities, and basing an entire economy around catering to city dwellers who produce nothing, is morally wrong.

Mike Adams, the “health ranger” at Natural News wrote this excellent article pointing out the absurdity of our modern culture especially when it comes to outrage over gun violence:

In the aftermath of the Aurora, Colorado Batman movie theater shooting, President Obama chimed in on the gun control debate yesterday, saying, “Every day, the number of young people we lose to violence is about the same as the number of people we lost in that movie theater. For every Columbine or Virginia Tech, there are dozens gunned down on the streets of Chicago or Atlanta…”

What he didn’t say, however, is that every day 290 people are killed by FDA-approved prescription drugs, and that’s the conservative number published by the Journal of the American Medical Association.

As no one seems to believe these numbers are real, I’ll quote the source: The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Vol 284, No 4, July 26th 2000, authored by Dr Barbara Starfield, MD, MPH, of the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.

That study, which is twelve years old — and drug deaths have risen considerably since then — documents 106,000 deaths per year from the “adverse effects” of FDA-approved prescription medications.

To reach this number from outbreaks of violent shootings, you’d have to see an Aurora Colorado Batman movie massacre take place every HOUR of every day, 365 days a year.

If a massacre of people using slugs of lead is bad, why is a massacre of people using deadly chemicals perfectly acceptable?

To be sure some of the article is crazed hippydom that even a cranky newly minted crunchy-con like me finds hard to take but his point is a good one. I’m not seeing much from people on the epidemic of oxy addicts turned loose on our streets – enabled by pill pushing doctors who write out scripts for powerful, addictive narcotics at the drop of a hat. That’s way more dangerous than my guns.
